Xbox Game Pass Subscribers Need to Pay Attention to June 12 and June 15

Xbox Game Pass subscribers constantly have something new to look forward to. Microsoft adds new games to the Xbox Game Pass lineup on a regular basis, including brand-new, day one releases. June 2022 has seen two new additions to the Xbox Game Pass lineup so far, and there are six more games that are confirmed to be coming to the service later this month, with many more yet to be revealed.

On June 1, Xbox Game Pass subscribers were treated to the first new Xbox Game Pass game for June 2022 with For Honor: Marching Fire Edition. For the uninitiated, For Honor: Marching Fire Edition comes with the game’s Marching Fire expansion, giving fans a more complete experience than they had with the vanilla version of the game that had been available on Game Pass previously. For Honor: Marching Fire Edition also brings the game to PC Game Pass, meaning more fans can check it out through their subscription than before.

On June 2, Microsoft added Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection to Xbox Game Pass, giving fans access to Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. And looking ahead, June 7 is set to add four more games to the Xbox Game Pass lineup with Assassin’s Creed Origins, Chorus, Disc Room, and Spacelines from the Far Out. And finally, Shadowrun Trilogy has been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass on June 21, while day one game Escape Academy is coming on June 28.

New Xbox Game Pass Games for June 2022 List

  • For Honor: Marching Fire Edition – June 1
  • Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection – June 2
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins – June 7
  • Chorus – June 7
  • Disc Room – June 7
  • Spacelines from the Far Out – June 7
  • Shadowrun Trilogy – June 21
  • Escape Academy – June 28

June 7 could be the biggest day for Xbox Game Pass this month, as it’s set to add four games to the service all at once, including some rather notable titles. Assassin’s Creed Origins should be a big addition to the Game Pass lineup because even though it’s been out for five years or so at this point, the game recently received a next-gen upgrade that makes it perform better when played on newer consoles. So Xbox Game Pass subscribers with an Xbox Series X handy can experience AC Origins in a new light.

Assassin’s Creed Origins will be joined by Chorus and Disc Room, with the former being a space combat game and the latter being an intense indie game where players have to survive in rooms filled with deadly saws. Chorus didn’t earn the greatest reviews when it first released, but Disc Room has proven to be fairly well-received.

Spacelines from the Far Out is one of the most significant additions to the Xbox Game Pass lineup on June 7, as it’s the only day one game confirmed to be coming to the service in the first half of the month. Spacelines from the Far Out is a co-op game where players have to manage their own spaceship. What’s been shown of it so far gives off Overcooked vibes, but the jury is still out on whether or not it will reach those same heights.

The next couple of weeks will be huge for Xbox Game Pass because of these new game additions, but it will also be huge for the service for other reasons as well. The next big date that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will want to keep an eye on is Sunday, June 12 at 10am PT, as that’s when Microsoft will be hosting the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, where it plans on featuring upcoming games in development for Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles.

In recent years, Microsoft’s gaming showcases have focused heavily on Xbox Game Pass, sometimes declaring at the start that all the games fans were about to see would be launching on Xbox Game Pass on day one. It’s entirely within the realm of possibility that will happen again with the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12, but fans will just have to tune in to find out for themselves.

Regardless, there will be at least some games shown during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase that will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, if not all of them, and so it should be a big day for Game Pass subscribers. While not outright confirmed, it’s more or less a given that Bethesda’s open world sci-fi RPG Starfield will be featured at the event, and there’s also a chance that fans will get a look at other upcoming Xbox projects like the new Forza Motorsport and Obsidian’s new fantasy RPG Avowed.

There are plenty of rumors going into the show as well, and it will be interesting to see if they turn out to be true, and if so, what they will mean for Xbox Game Pass. One of the rumors is that a Gears of War collection is on the way in the vein of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which would presumably mean some remastered content from the older games in the series. Another rumor says that Microsoft is on the cusp of releasing a GoldenEye 007 remaster, evidenced by a Rare developer somehow unlocking an achievement in the game recently.

Fans will have to tune in to the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12 to find out if there’s any truth to these rumors, but in the meantime, it’s not the only big date coming up in the next couple of weeks. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also do good to keep their eye on Wednesday, June 15, as there’s a good chance that even more Game Pass-related announcements will be made on that particular date.

The way Xbox Game Pass works is that Microsoft likes to reveal the games in two week batches. So when it comes to the new Xbox Game Pass games for June 2022, subscribers know of the games coming in the first half of the month, but the second half of the month remains mostly a mystery at this point. The exception are games who were confirmed as day one Xbox Game Pass releases and had their release dates announced previously, like the previously mentioned Shadowrun Trilogy and Escape Academy games.

Shadowrun Trilogy and Escape Academy will not be the only new Xbox Game Pass games for the second half of June 2022, and so Microsoft will likely pull the curtain back on the rest of them come Wednesday, June 15. However, that date is not set in stone. It’s also possible Microsoft will wait until Thursday, June 16, or even later to make the announcement, but the most likely scenario is that the new Xbox Game Pass games for the second half of June 2022 will be revealed on June 15. June 15 is also significant because that’s the day that five games are leaving Xbox Game Pass.

The next couple of weeks are going to be huge for Xbox Game Pass, with June 12 and June 15 standing out as particularly important dates. Microsoft has teased that it has some Xbox Game Pass surprises up its sleeve this month as well, and so fans should have plenty to look forward to in the days ahead.
