Japan’s new PS Plus confirms Resident Evil and Bethesda games, plus 60hz classics
The Japanese version of Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus service has gone live in the region, confirming several new games and NTSC versions of PSOne classics.
The newly published Japan games line-up confirms many additional games not previously included when Sony first disclosed a partial list of games that will be made available as part of the new PS Plus service, when it also said that games available “may vary by local market”.
Japan’s PS Plus games library includes several Resident Evil games, for example, and first-party titles such as Knack and Africa, and even Bethesda titles in the form of The Elder Scrolls IV, Fallout 4, Doom and Wolfenstein: New Order.

As expected, Japan’s classic PSOne games also run in the NTSC 60hz format, since Sony has opted to publish the original Japanese language versions of the games.
When the classic games went live in other Asian countries last month, fans were disappointed to discover that Sony had opted for the inferior 50hz PAL games, a decision likely driven by the desire to include multiple language support.
It’s worth noting that Western markets will likely have a more extensive list of games, since Sony said to expect 400 PS4 and PS5 games, and the Japanese list currently includes around 300.
Sony also said to expect around 340 classic games, and Japan’s list currently includes around 250.
PlayStation Plus’s new Essential, Extra and Premium tiers are expected to launch in the Americas on June 13, and in Europe on June 22.
For PS Plus Essential, which is the standard PS Plus tier similar to what is available today, new ‘free’ games will continue to be added on the first Tuesday of each month.
An additional refresh will occur in the middle of each month with new games for the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium plans. The number of games refreshed will vary per month.
